United Way Home Walk 2009—Team Caltech

On Saturday, November 7, Caltech will participate in the 5k HomeWalk 2009 at Exposition Park. This event is sponsored by the United Way to support the 73,000 homeless men, women, and children in Los Angeles County. Every dollar we raise, every conversation we have, every step we take brings us closer to ending homelessness in our communities.
The $500,000 raised at Home Walk last year is funding innovative programs that end homelessness for individuals and families. These programs move people directly into permanent housing as quickly as possible—an approach called rapid rehousing—which is critical for serving the thousands who are homeless and service systems are at capacity.
The event is inspirational, and Human Resources hopes to have even more people from the Caltech community participate this year than last. Human Resources is organizing Team Caltech so that all members of the Institute community can join in the event to help raise money for the homeless. Come join the walk and get a free TEAM CALTECH T-Shirt.
