Secretary of Energy Steven Chu to Be Caltech Commencement Speaker

 Renowned physicist, recently appointed U.S. Secretary of Energy, and Nobel Laureate Steven Chu will be the featured speaker at Caltech's 115th annual commencement ceremony on June 12.
Chu is a distinguished scientist and cowinner of the Nobel Prize in Physics (1997). He has devoted his recent scientific career to the search for new solutions to energy challenges and to stopping global climate change. Chu was appointed by President Obama as the 12th U.S. secretary of energy and sworn into office on January 21 of this year. In this role, he is charged with helping implement President Obama's ambitious agenda to invest in alternative and renewable energy, end the United States' dependence on foreign oil, address the global climate crisis, and create new jobs.
