Green Valley Environmental Expo
March 31, 2009 - The San Gabriel Valley community will celebrate Earth Month at the Green Valley Environmental Expo on April 18. The indoor expo is free of charge and will be open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday, April 18, at Victory Park Center, located at 2575 Paloma Street in Pasadena (north of the 210 freeway off San Gabriel Boulevard). A stroll through the exhibition will give visitors a peek at the latest gadgets and products for energy efficiency, as well as ideas for simple, money-saving options that are friendly for the environment. A lineup of green experts and enthusiasts will speak at the expo. Featured speakers will include Steve Edberg, a NASA scientist, and Steve Julian, radio host on 89.3 KPCC.
Public Meeting: Regional Connector Transit Corridor
March 20, 2009 - Metro and the Federal Transit Administration will hold public "scoping" meetings for the Regional Connector Transit Corridor project on March 30, March 31, April 1, and April 2.
The purpose of the project is to connect the Metro Gold with the Blue and Expo lines through downtown Los Angeles. By providing continuous through service between these LRT lines, the Regional Connector will improve regional mobility, minimize transfers, reduce station crowding, and improve access to both local and regional destinations.
The public meetings will provide the public an opportunity to comment on the project's purpose, alternatives, and the potential effects. For more information on the project and the meetings (including times and locations), click here.
Suggestions: Savings Through Energy Conservation
March 12, 2009 - Caltech's Sustainability office wishes to thank all those who participated in the Town Hall meetings to discuss savings through energy conservation. Both meetings were a great success and generated numerous suggestions that are being considered for implementation. You may view the suggestions and provide additional feedback here.
Town Hall Meetings: Savings through Energy Conservation
February 23, 2009 - The Caltech Facilities Department will host two Town Hall meetings to discuss savings through energy conservation on Tuesday, March 3, from 10 to 11:30 a.m., and noon to 1:30 p.m. in the Beckman Institute auditorium. All members of the Caltech community are encouraged to attend one of the meetings to learn what is being done on campus to save energy and participate in a discussion on energy conservation.
Net Impact Documentary Series
January 29, 2009 - At 8 p.m. on Thursday, January 29, in Noyes 153, FLOW: How did a Handful of Corporations Steal our Water? will be screened as part of the Net Impact Documentary Series. Snacks and drinks will be served starting at at 7:30 p.m.

Caltech Makes the Grade on Sustainability
September 26, 2008 - The 2009 College Sustainability Report Card was just released, and Caltech earned a B for overall campus sustainability. This represents a significant improvement over last year's grade (C). Caltech ranks in the top quartile of schools in the U.S. and Canada. Highlights on this year's report card include top marks in the categories of Food & Recycling, Green Building, and Investment Priorities. The complete report card can be viewed here.
