Hubert Chen, Caltech graduate student in physics, presented an Everhart Lecture in which he discussed the significance of high-energy X-rays in observational astronomy and described new technologies for focusing high-energy X-rays, including the High Energy Focusing Telescope (HEFT), which was launched for the first time in May 2005 by Chen and his colleagues.
